Quarteira is the local town (which used to be a small fishing village) and is only 15 minutes walk along the front or 5 minutes by car.  There are some excellent fish restaurants, notably JACINTO, situated on the main avenue (where there are many interesting shops), BUZIOS and EL CARAVELA near the fish market.  There is also a weekly gypsy market in Quarteira every Wednesday morning. The daily fish market and fruit and veg market on the sea front are certainly worth a visit.
